Foxes

Portfolio Update

I recently had a change around with both my portfolio and my PDF portfolio, I removed quite a lot like my first and second year stuff, not that I disliked it but I think my portfolio flows a lot more now, it is now mostly my animal work and I have added in some of my major project work too which has made it a lot more colourful :)

Business Cards Updated

I kept the design of my original business card as I loved the images and how they look so these are just updated with the new information of my website on it.

Website !!

Hopes, Fears and Opportunities 2

I think recently I feel much more confident with my work and when I finish Uni I hope to start applying my work to different things and try selling some of my work, maybe on a market or somewhere like that I think this will really help with my confidence and help to learn what my work is best applied to, and keep me busy when finishing Uni.
I hope to start using social media more for my work, since the trip to London the advice that was given on social media has kind of opened my eyes to the benefits of using it and how simple to get my work out there.
After I graduate I want to be doing competitions and really pushing myself, my major project and the trip to London have really filled me with confidence and motivation.

I think my fears are just to realise I haven't taken full advantage of things such as my major project and my final shows I doubt that will be the case as long as I stay focused and work hard.

London + Portfolio Reviews - 25th /26th March

I recently went to London with Uni, we visited a few places when we went these were adam&eve DDB, Illustration Ltd and a collective called 'Day Job'

First we went to see Daniel Moorey at adam&eve DDB he talked to us for a bit and gave us his advice on numerous subjects such as how to go about approaching different agencies and gave useful advice on how are websites should look and the different things we should consider to make our websites efficient and effective and showed examples of what he thought works and what doesn't, I found this to be really good advice as I have not finished my website as of yet so can easily apply the advice he gave.

(portfolio review 1)
The next visit was to a collective known as 'Day Job', they discussed with us their experiences since graduating and the pro's of working within a collective, they mentioned the importance of staying focused after graduating and suggested things such as entering into competitions to help stay focused.
I was lucky enough to have my portfolio looked at, they said my animal work was really lovely, and I can obviously draw well but now I should maybe push myself into moving my drawings and prints onto different surfaces and materials to see where they work and where they don't, as my eventual goal is to start selling some work.

Our final visit was on the Wednesday, we visited Illustration Ltd, again we got really good advice about our websites and how they think is best for them to look and offered valuable advice on how best to promote ourselves within the industry and the importance of our final shows and that we should take full advantage of it.
I was able to show my portfolio to two members of the team.

(portfolio review 2)
Juliette liked my age UK work and made a comment on the style of it she liked the combination of print and sketchy ink and said It looked like something that could be used for lifestyle magazines, she also commented on my Natural World work she liked the combination of silhouette with ink drawing and liked the narrative within the image, she said that style of working is something I should stick with and develop further.

(portfolio review 3)
Victoria mostly said similar things she liked my lino prints from my more recent work of British Wildlife, and said I should apply narrative to these in the same way as my previous work. She liked my use of colour in my new work and said my style of working is really nice and to just keep going with it and develop it further.

Overall I found the trip really useful and have found it to be a big confidence boost within my work.

I am really happy with how this print came out, I used four colours in this and wasn't sure it would work out !

Lino Prints

Most of my lino prints cut out, I selected 2 of each animal for my lino prints so I have more of a variety to try out different designs with.
